And there is a craft. Both of these skill sets are enhanced when you have a 40-year history of creating some of the world’s finest Cabernets behind you. Those enhancements become even more evident when you factor in Napa Valley's unmatched soil diversity, varied hillside, mountain valley floor terrains, all ideally, uniquely suited for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. Bella Union is the product of decades of experience, unmatched expertise, modern day innovation and the most enviable growing environment imaginable. All that being said, Bella Union is a wine best understood and appreciated in a glass, rather than in a litany of superlatives.EXPLORE BELLA UNION WINES
Bella Union was founded in 2012 by the partners of Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel. The winery is located on a 25-acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard that runs along Bella Oaks Lane, a storied Cabernet growing area in the heart of Rutherford. We call this wonderful wine Bella Union as a nod to the history of Bella Oaks Lane, which was known as the Bella Union Roadway in the late 1800’s. At that time, the country lane led to the gorgeous Mayacamas Mountains and eventually to the Bella Union Mining Company.
The Bella Union story is both a new story and a historic one. It is this blending—of both deep experience and contemporary imagination—that enables a blended Cabernet of such structure, depth and distinctiveness.
Far Niente is pleased to announce today a series of promotions within its winemaking and vineyard management teams. Andrew Delos has been promoted to Vice President of Winemaking of the wineries; Michael Accurso has been tapped as the Winemaker for the recently launched Post & Beam; and Brooke Bobyak has been named Winemaker for Bella Union winery. Additionally, John McCarthy has joined the company as Director of Vineyard Operations.
"To commemorate Women’s History Month, I recently tried a few wines from large, prominent California wineries whose top winemaking posts are held by women making history now."
"Sinewy, earthy and full of spice, this well-made wine is lush and sumptuous, with firm, focused tannins and integrated oak..."
